The KLA's OVL has confirmed that Behar Preniqi, arrested last night by Serbian authorities, was not part of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
The head of the KLA's OVL, Hysni Gucati, told KosovaPress that Preniqi does not appear on the names in the archives of this organization.
"In our documentation in the veterans' organization, he is neither a member nor does he have a file, we don't have it. We don't have documentation that he is a KLA veteran, I'm sorry because he is a citizen of Kosovo, but he is not in our records," said Gucati.
Behar Preniqi was detained by Serbian authorities under the pretext of war crimes, claiming that he was part of the KLA.
It is reported that Preniqi was arrested in Bajakovo at the border crossing between Serbia and Croatia.
The claims of the Serbian authorities that Preniqi was part of the Kosovo Liberation Army have also been rejected by his family, emphasizing that Preniqi was a minor, around 16 years old, at the time of the war in Kosovo.
