Nothing Phone 4a: The Android phone you'll either love or hate

It won't fully launch until March 5th, but the company Nothing has previously revealed the upcoming design of the Phone 4a.

If you're looking for a good, affordable smartphone, an Android phone is the most logical choice. With so many manufacturers offering devices at different price points, you can usually find a better deal than you would on an iPhone.

One British brand pushing affordable Android is Nothing. The design-focused company has introduced the Phone 4a, which, like Marmite, you'll either love or hate.

The official launch event will be held on March 5th, but Nothing couldn't resist showing off the full design on social media.

The Phone 4a will be significantly cheaper than the Phone 3, which launched last year at £799 (~€920). The “a” series phone comes at a much more affordable price, with the Phone 3a from last year starting at £329 (~€380).

This phone offers a unique design and minimal, well-thought-out software. Sure, the processor and camera aren't top-notch, but the price is hundreds of euros lower than an iPhone 17, Samsung Galaxy S26, or Google Pixel 10, and the design looks more interesting.

The Phone 4a will use an improved version of the familiar "Glyph" interface, which uses LED lights or a dot-matrix display to alert users to notifications, timers, and other functions.

Nothing also revealed that the Phone 4a will have a "Glyph Bar" with 9 individually controllable mini-LEDs, 40% brighter than the previous series, offering a more natural glow and no diffused lighting.

While the leaked image shows a white model, previous posts suggested that the phone could also come in blue and pink. The Phone 3a came in black, white, or blue, and adding a pink model would be a big change for the Nothing, which usually uses a simple, monochrome design.
