The Municipality of Cair today, starting at 11:30, will mark the beginning of the reconstruction of "Samarxhinjve" Street, as well as the five branches and surrounding streets in the Old Bazaar, a project that aims to restore the splendor of one of the most authentic urban spaces in Skopje.
The Mayor of Chair, Izet Mexhiti, is also expected to appear at this event, who will present the main aspects of the project and the importance of this investment for the local community and cultural heritage.
"Samarxhinjve" Street, once the center of artisan life in Çarshi, after more than half a century without serious intervention, will undergo a complete reconstruction on an area of 1.567 m².
The project envisages the restoration of the cobblestones with travertine stone, preserving the historical authenticity of the space and ensuring long-term sustainability. In parallel, the complete modernization of the underground infrastructure will be carried out, which includes the installation of optical fibers, a new water supply and sewage network, as well as a new electrical network - interventions that have not been carried out for decades.
As part of the project, new street lighting with traditional-style candles will be installed, as well as urban equipment, seating, and waste bins, making the space more functional and attractive for citizens and tourists.
With an investment of 28,7 million denars, this project represents an important step towards the protection, revitalization and modern arrangement of the Old Bazaar.
