The Central Election Commission has announced that the deadline for applying for certification of new political parties to participate in the June 7 snap elections has begun.
This was announced by the CEC spokesperson, Valmir Elezi. The latter also announced that, according to the Law on General Elections, a political party is automatically considered certified, therefore, the deadline applies only to new political entities, coalitions, civic initiatives and independent candidates.
"Starting from May 2 and until May 10, new political entities (coalitions, civic initiatives and independent candidates) must submit online to the CEC, respectively to the Office for Registration, Certification and Financial Control, the application for certification for participation in the early elections for the Assembly of Kosovo. According to the Law on General Elections, a political party is automatically considered certified, therefore this process will only apply to new political entities, which in this case are coalitions, civic initiatives and independent candidates," Elezi told Gazeta Express.
Elezi also announced that, by May 12, parties must submit the list of names of candidates for deputies.
"The CEC has set an 11-day deadline, from May 2 to May 12, 2026, for political entities (political parties, coalitions, civic initiatives and independent candidates) to submit the list of names of candidates for deputies to be certified to participate in the early elections of June 7. The submission of the list of names of candidates for deputies must be done through the electronic platform and the procedure is similar to the last elections held in December last year," he stated.
