The four Serb mayors in northern Kosovo who resigned in November last year in protest over Pristina’s tariffs on Serbian goods, continue receiving salaries. Despite offering their resignation the mayors of Mitrovica North, Zubin Potok, Zvecan, and Leposavic, continue receiving salaries from Kosovo budget, the Ministry of Finances confirms.
“Just to inform you that mayors of the municipalities in the north are in the payroll and are receiving salaries regularly,” it is stated in an answer the Ministry of Finances sent to Gazeta Express. Serb mayors offered their resignation on 27 November 2018 following Government’s decision to impose 100 percent tariffs on Serbia’s goods. But the Government of Kosovo considers the decision as legally disputable and has taken no final decision on how will be proceeded following their resignation.
