Federica Mogherini, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Vice-President of the European Commission, will in the framework of the EU-facilitated Dialogue host in Brussels on Sunday 24 June 2018 a meeting with Presidents Aleksandar Vucic of Serbia and Hashim Thaci of Kosovo.
According to a press release issued by Mogherini’s office, the High Representative and the Presidents will continue their work on the comprehensive normalisation phase of the Dialogue, take stock of existing agreements, inform of achievements to date as well as discuss the next steps in view of an intensive period ahead. Mogherini is facilitating the high level dialogue between the two presidents.
Kosovo president’s advisor, Bekim Collaku, in a televised interview on Monday said that he expects the high level dialogue will resume within days. He also said that President Hashim Thaci will be leading the final phase of the dialogue which is expected to start soon. Kosovo opposition parties are disputing Thaci’s leading role in dialogue with Serbia claiming that he is a unifying figure and has no mandate to lead the political dialogue which should be concluded with a legally-binding agreement between the two countries. On Monday the head of Kosovo's delegation in technical talks with Belgrade, Avni Arifi, has presented in Brussels a report on implementation of the agreements reached so far, and complained that Serbia is obstructing implementation of the Agreement on revitalisation of Mitrtovica bridge, and Agreement on energy. Arifi also announced that he informed the EU officials that the Association of Serb-majority Municipalities, agreed in Brussels, will have no executive powers, as requested by Serbia and will be in compliance with Kosovo laws and its Constitution.
