Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj reiterated Monday the 100 percent tax on Serbian goods will not be suspended. His comments came as international pressure on Kosovo authorities is mounting asking suspension of tax and resumption of dialogue with Serbia.
Prime Minister Haradinaj commenting Monday’s meeting of institutional leaders held at the invitation of Speaker Kadri Veseli, said that they have discussed on presenting a joint platform on dialogue with Serbia. A meeting held today at the Speaker’s Office was attended also by President Hashim Thaci, PM Haradinaj and his deputy Fatmir Limaj. “We agreed today that the platform once ready to be proceeded to Parliament,” Haradinaj said.
He also said the tax on Serbian goods will not be revoked. Asked by journalists whether the US Iowa National Guard commander, Major General Timothy Orr, cancelled his visit to Kosovo because of Pristina authorities’ decision not to suspend the tax as requested by the US, Haradinaj said that he does not know why General Orr cancelled his visit noting that he has received no confirmation on cancellation of his visit.
Kosovo Government introduced on 21 November last year 100 percent tax on all imported goods of Serbia and Bosnia. Authorities in Belgrade are conditioning continuation of dialogue with suspension of tax by authorities in Pristina. Also the US and EU called on Kosovo authorities to suspend the tariffs and resume dialogue with Serbia. /GazetaExpress/
