Kosovo is participating in the Winter Games for the first time with only one athlete. Alpine skier Albin Tahiri, 28, who was born and raised in Slovenia, is representing Kosovo, the home country of both of his parents.
The National Olympic Committee of Kosovo, will be represented for the first time at the Olympic Winter Games by Alpine skier Albin Tahiri, who will compete in all of the Alpine skiing disciplines. Kosovo President Hashim Thaci in a ceremony on Monday handed over the Kosovo flag to Kosovo skier. Albin learned to ski as a child in Slovenia, where he grew up and where Alpine skiing is very popular. He said that his presence in PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea means a lot for him and his country, and that this is only the start of what he hopes will be a brilliant future. Tahiri is the only participant representing Kosovo in this competition.
