Member of Kosovo Parliament of junior coalition party – Nisma, Milaim Zeka, will face a trial for alleged involvement in a visa scam, the Court of Appeals confirmed Monday.
The Court of Appeals confirmed the indictment against MP Zeka who is charged of being part of an organised group over an alleged scam concerning German visa. Zeka is accused of fraud, money laundering, and tax evasion. “The Court of Appeals has confirmed the indictment of the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo filed with the Basic Court in Pristina, dated 26.12.2018,” The Court of Appeals confirmed.
Former journalist Zeka who joined Nisma for Kosovo a party established by former Kosovo war leader, Fatmir Limaj, after splitting from the PDK, has been arrested by the Kosovo Police Unit of Economic Crimes on Monday at noon, Gazeta Express reports. His arrest came after investigative online media outlet Insajderi has published a series of articles on alleged involvement of Zeka in a visa scam. According to Insajderi Zeka has registered a business jointly with his partner, Ilir Krasniqi, promising Kosovo citizens German visas in exchange for money. Insajderi reports that 920 Kosovo citizens have tried their luck to obtain a working visa in Germany through this employment agency established by Milaim Zeka and his partner, Ilir Krasniqi. According to Insajderi applicant paid from 50 up to 3.500 Euro each for a working visa.
