Kosovo has started celebrating 28 November – Independence Day of Albania and National Flag Day, which is an official holiday at the special decision of the Government.

Albanian national flags are put out in streets of Pristina, and other cities, as a tradition in 17 years of freedom and eight years of independence of Kosovo, while dozens of cultural activities are expected to be held throughout Kosovo. In Gjilan, the Municipal Assembly held on Friday afternoon a solemn session on the occasion of the Flag Day, which was attended also by Albania’s Minister of Defense, Mimi Kodheli, accompanied by Albania’s Ambassador to Kosovo, Qemal Minxhozi. 

Peja, was the first to commence celebrations on 104th anniversary of Albania’s Independence. The Municipality of Peja in cooperation with the Albanian Embassy in Kosovo and University “Haxhi Zeka” have organized the activities “Week of November” on this occasion. 

Also in biggest northern municipality of Kosovo, Mitrovica, the Albanian Embassy in cooperation with Mitrovica South Municipality has organized an activity to mark the Flag Day. The festive activities were attended by Albanian Ambssador to Pristina, Minxhozi, who visited the museum of the Albanian national hero, Isa Boletini. On this occasion it was emphasized that Mitrovica always was known for its brave men who gave great contribution to Albanian nation.
