European Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, says he is waiting for an answer from Pristina after requesting authorities in Kosovo to revoke tariffs on Serbia’s goods.
Hahn speaking to journalists in Brussels has reiterated his offer for a special format of negotiations between Pristina and Belgrade on revocation of tax. Hahn said that because of the introduction of the tax he visited Kosovo on 3 December last year, when he asked the measure be revoked. Also the EU foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini, following a consultative meeting with the Kosovo state delegation in talks with Serbia urged Kosovo authorities to revoke the decision on tariffs. Mogherini said that "it is in the interest of Kosovo to immediately revoke this decision." She urged Pristina to settle its grievances through dialogue.
But despite calls from Brussels the Government of Kosovo is not revoking the decision. The Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj said on Tuesday that Kosovo is ready to revoke the tax only after Serbia recognises Kosovo’s independence. /GazetaExpress/
