The Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK) has announced that unit A4 of the Kosovo A Power Plant has been stopped in a controlled manner from operation, as a result of water leaks in the boiler, specifically in the superheater area.
The KEK announcement states that the professional staff of the Power Plant assessed that the shutdown of the unit was necessary and in full compliance with technical and safety standards, as emphasized, in order to prevent major and unpredictable damage to the equipment.
The announcement states that a significant portion of the missing energy capacities are being provided by Albania.
"Meanwhile, thanks to the continuous cooperation between the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK) and the Albanian Energy Corporation (KESH), in such situations a considerable part of the missing capacity has been provided through energy exchange with KESH, until the unit returns to operation, contributing to maintaining the stability of the electricity supply," the announcement states.
According to the announcement, once the technical conditions are created, after the unit has cooled down, the exact identification of the source of the leaks will be made, after which it is said that the remediation process will begin immediately.
