This ruling class has left Albanians hopeless, poor, unemployed, and without dignity, so the path to emancipation to become part of the civilized world seems lost for now. At least not until we become aware of the spiders that are everywhere among us.

Father Gjon Shllaku, an erudite shot by the barbaric regime of Enver Hoxha, in his book “Albanian-Brother-Albania”, has an article entitled “We don’t know why we want, why we don’t want why we know”, in which, among other things, he brings to the reader an event related to the time of the occupation of the Austro-Hungarian powers in Albania. He talks about a merchant who, one day, was visited by an Austrian officer. And, between the merchant and the officer, there was a conversation about the situation in Albania. The merchant told the officer how low Albania had fallen in all respects compared to all the Balkan countries.
"You will know, sir," the merchant replied, "that it is the Turks who for forty years and more have not allowed us to lead and advance" - and continued to explain the long-suffering state of the Albanian nation. While the Austrian officer replied:
"Everything you say is true, but that speck of dust I see on the edge of the wall, is it possible that the Turk of Aiz didn't let you remove it from there?"
Of course, after this conversation the merchant was left astonished and speechless. He had the opportunity to clean the spider or continue with the same logic, accusing others of the backwardness of his country. Meanwhile, Át Shllaku continues his writing by saying that, “our country is filled with such spiders that have completely covered the soul of the Albanian with their dust and continue to roam freely in the troll of Albania.”
Every Albanian knows that their lands are still filled with such spiders today, scattered everywhere, mostly in those responsible leading institutions that are charged with the task of regulating the lives of Albanians, the economy and general culture: of emerging from lethargy and backwardness.
Albanians continue to live in misery, with minimal public services, crippled and weakened, without seeing any hope in the dark tunnel they are in.
And the reasons for this situation are not somewhere else, far from us. They are within us. They are like that merchant's spider, which is behind our heads and in our heads, but which we do not want to see.
Undoubtedly, there are other factors, mainly historical, that have hindered our emancipation and development, such as the severe consequences of the barbaric Ottoman, communist and Serbian rule, which have left deep scars on the national conscience. But, it has been decades since Albanians have lived freely and no one prevents them from removing the spider, but they do not have any factor that can give them strength, knowledge, endurance, hope, love for the country, to seek the lost path towards emancipation and national exaltation. This may be the reason why Albanians everywhere hear wasting time debating the reasons for our misery, but who do not want to hear or see the spider behind their heads.
Today, the Albanian ruling class is of shallow knowledge, with limited intellectual capacities and with a lack of love for the homeland. I say with a lack of love, because, the Albanian leadership, apart from the empty patriotic slogans, has not given Albanians dignity and internal freedom. Because, patriotism is to raise the dignity of the citizens of your country and not to beat your chest on big issues. By dealing with big issues, this leadership has impoverished the Albanian people and has “forgotten” that, man was not created for the state, but the state for man. Because, the state, first of all, is the people. This proverbial expression has a biblical origin and is a postulate of modern and humane states.
Is there any factor that really demands that this spider be removed from national life?
If we take as a basis how Albanians speak and write, how the media and knowledge institutions behave in relation to the leadership, we can say that they do nothing more than prolong the life of this class unworthy of leading a nation, and this leads to a negative answer to the above question.
By dealing so much with big topics, this political class has severely damaged human dignity, shrinking it to nothing, robbing it of its hopes, its inner freedom, and this is the reason why today Albanians everywhere are seen as weak and hopeless, not hearing anyone say: I am blessed for my country. On the contrary, every day you hear them say: woe to us for our country. We are worthless… Yes, because this ruling class has left Albanians without hope, poor, unemployed, without dignity, therefore, the path of emancipation to become part of the civilized world seems lost for now. At least not until we become aware of removing the spiders that are everywhere among us.
