Napoli have rejected offers from two Premier League clubs and a Saudi Arabian League team for 2025 Serie A MVP Scott McTominay.
The Scot joined Napoli from Manchester United in the summer of 2024, having spent 22 years with the Red Devils at academy and first-team levels.
The 29-year-old played a key role in Napoli's triumph in Serie A during the 2024/25 season, winning the Italian championship's MVP award thanks to 16 goal contributions in 34 matches.
That season he doubled his previous best statistics, having scored seven goals and provided one assist in 32 league games for Manchester United in the 2023/24 season.
McTominay has continued his fine form in Italy this season, registering 13 goal contributions in 32 appearances, despite Napoli dropping from champions to second place.
Outgoing coach Antonio Conte could end the season up to 14 points behind the new 2025/26 champions, Inter, if Napoli fail to win their final match against Udinese.
Despite the arrival of another Manchester legend, Kevin De Bruyne, McTominay has remained the main figure in Napoli's midfield, while the Belgian has scored just two goals in Serie A, excluding penalties, since leaving Manchester City last season.
Despite continued interest from England and Saudi Arabia, Napoli reportedly consider McTominay "untouchable" ahead of the 2026/27 season.
According to Tuttosport, the Italian club is making rapid progress in their efforts to convince the 29-year-old to sign a new contract.
McTominay's new contract is expected to last until 2030, with an option to extend until 2031, as the former Serie A champions aim to retain one of the main pillars of the squad.
The contract extension will also come with a significant salary increase, as the Scot has earned the right to a higher salary after two stable seasons in Italy.
The 29-year-old had previously stated to Corriere dello Sport that his future remains with Napoli, despite speculation about a return to the Premier League.
"My agent hasn't communicated with anyone about my future," McTominay said.
"He only speaks to me and the club. He hasn't said anything to the media. I'm extremely happy here. As for me, I'm a Napoli player, that's all I think about. I can see myself for a long time at Napoli," he continued.
Napoli's global business development director, Leonardo Giammarioli, had expressed concern about the former Manchester United player's future in Italy back in February, amid rumours of a return to Old Trafford.
Speaking to talkSPORT, he admitted that Napoli and McTominay could face an offer too big to refuse, while also expressing his admiration for the Scot.
"Of course I'm worried. But ultimately, especially Scott, who is a very good guy, we would be happy if he reaches the next level in a few years - maybe not now, maybe not next year, but he deserves it," he said.
"Look at Stuttgart, they wanted to keep Nick Woltemade, but when an offer like that comes, you can't do much when the player wants to leave and money is important," he added.
For now, it seems Napoli will keep a player they consider invaluable to the club's ambitions in the coming years./Express newspaper/
