VLEN MP Mimoza Musa says that the new Law on Higher Education is more in the service of Albanian universities than universities in general, without prejudice to them. Speaking about the corrections made, Musa mentions the fact that the influence of students on the governing bodies of universities and the national council has increased, which implies their direct participation in decision-making.

"The first is that scientific projects and publications, which were initially the same for all universities, have now changed, based on the academic units that each university has. Something else that has changed is the addition of the 'Scorpus' database, which is one of the most important databases, especially for the social sciences and humanities. The list of collaborations with international universities has expanded, from 500 to 1000," declared Mimoza Musa, VLEN.

Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski says that those who are against the law on higher education want to work only once a week and receive salaries of up to 150 thousand denars.

"Now they want to work 1 day a week, they want salaries of 120-150 thousand denars, but they don't want to write a scientific paper a year, which is their job, a paper. This is the same as me now as prime minister, coming to work half a day a week and asking for ten times more income and not being responsible for anything in the state," said Hristijan Mickoski, Prime Minister.

The Minister of Education, Vesna Janevska, emphasizes that reasonable suggestions have been taken into account, and the law is now considered closed and ready for further government procedure. The opposition parties SDSM and DUI have repeatedly spoken out against this law, underlining that it violates university autonomy and instead of quality, government control is exercised over universities. /Alsat.mk
