The Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Mimoza Kusari Lila, has called for reaching an agreement on the election of the president, warning that the country does not need new elections due to the cost and consequences they could bring.
At a press conference after the Government meeting, she said that so far the initiatives to resolve the president's issue have only come from the Prime Minister and the Vetëvendosje Movement.
"I hope that there will be an agreement today. Let me remind you that during this entire period of time, only Prime Minister Kurti, the chairman of the Vetëvendosje Movement and the Vetëvendosje Movement have made proposals for the name of the president. In no case so far from all the meetings, whether with the Democratic League of Kosovo, the Democratic Party of Kosovo, have there been any proposals or there has been no initiative to resolve the issue of the president or to give a concrete name to which we could give the answer," she said.
Kusari Lila emphasized that she hopes for a positive approach from all parties, underlining that the process is being led by the Prime Minister in his capacity as the chairman of the Vetëvendosje Movement.
"Therefore, although I hope that there will be an agreement, despite the fact that this is the direct competence of the Prime Minister who, in his capacity as the head of the self-determination movement, holds these meetings and the country gains what it least needs or finds it completely unnecessary to go to new elections. New elections will have, in addition to costs, delays and stagnation in the vital functions of our state, despite the fact that they would also jeopardize some of the processes that are already in a very positive dynamic of our country," she said.
She added that so far there have been no concrete initiatives from other political parties, while also mentioning the position of the Democratic Party of Kosovo regarding the request for a written offer.
"I hope there will be a positive approach, however, so far we have seen continuous efforts only from one side to resolve the name of the president or president. I reiterate that so far there has only been an initiative or a start or an invitation from Prime Minister Kurti, while the Democratic Party, as far as we have all heard through public opinion, is that it is expecting a written offer," she said.
The Minister emphasized that, if necessary, the invitation can be formalized in writing, but according to her, the discussion on the principles and concrete names remains essential.
"If the invitation should be sent in writing, perhaps it can be done, despite the fact that we still need to sit down and discuss the principle of the election and specific names that the Democratic Party of Kosovo can also propose for president of the country. Because we are now in the final stage that the head of the highest institution in the country must be elected before what we do not want happens, that the Assembly is dissolved and the country goes to elections," she said.
