The fourth session of the General Council of the Democratic Union for Integration (DUI) was held in Lipkovo yesterday. According to a statement from the DUI, chairman Ali Ahmeti called this session with the aim of discussing current political developments in the country, as well as further internal party organization in function of these developments.

"The tendencies towards the erosion of the Ohrid Peace Agreement were analyzed with concern, which could have serious consequences for the stability of the country. We ask the initiators and implementers of these actions to withdraw from them and to continue with full respect for the Ohrid Agreement, as the only path towards stability and the country's advancement towards full membership in the European Union," the DUI statement states.

Furthermore, the DUI say that they are concerned, because according to them, the government is targeting former mayors from the DUI ranks,

"It was also noted with concern that the government is targeting former mayors from the ranks of the Democratic Union for Integration, such as Mr. Blerim Bexheti and Mr. Fatmir Dehari. The Democratic Union for Integration is not against institutional control and revision, but strongly opposes political pressure and political approach. We are for control and transparency, but not for selective and politically motivated justice, as is happening with the cases in Saraj and Kicevo", reacts the DUI.

The DUI says that developments in Europe and the Middle East were also discussed, the impact of the events in Hungary and concern for global peace were emphasized, and support for the US and the dialogue for stability was expressed. The process of organizing assemblies within the party was also reported.
