The Kosovo Government held a solemn session in honor of the 18th anniversary of Independence.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti has said that the state, independence and Constitution are new, but the language, culture and people of Kosovo are ancient.

Kurti also mentioned former KLA leaders who are being tried by the Specialist Chambers.

He said that one cannot remember the Declaration of Independence without mentioning those who contributed to the building of the state.

"True, the state, independence and Constitution are new, but our language, culture and people are ancient. Our state was built and stands for the values of freedom and democracy, equality and justice, prosperity and inclusion. Every citizen, regardless of language, ethnicity, religion or origin, is equal before the law. We cannot help but remember that the representatives who participated in the declaration of the Independence of the Republic are today being unjustly held in The Hague. The contribution of each of them to freedom and independence is precious and history will be the one that will make the right judgment. This year of independence finds us at the beginning of the new governing mandate. The tasks that await us are numerous but the goal we have before us is lofty. Teachers and students, doctors and workers, women and men, girls and boys, we must all give our maximum. Everyone expects this. Let us make them proud by working and strengthening the state. We as the government cabinet are only an instrument in the realization of these goals," he said. him.

Kuti said that Kosovo has achieved a lot as a state and society in 18 years. He mentioned the strengthening of the rule of law, the economy, international victories in sports, art and culture, visa-free movement, and even application to join the European Union and the Council of Europe.
