Kosovo's Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, has stated that Kosovo's application for membership in the European Union, submitted in December 2022, continues to remain unexamined by the Council even after 40 months.
He described this delay as an issue that requires attention, emphasizing that Kosovo, according to him, meets important standards such as functional democracy, economic growth, and compliance with the EU's foreign and security policy.
In this context, Kurti said that the Government has established the Executive Committee for EU Membership, with the aim of increasing inter-institutional coordination and accelerating the integration process. He also announced that the chief negotiator has been authorized to create specialized task forces, starting with the one for securing candidate country status.
