Kosovo second in Europe for poverty, Murati: We are growing faster than others, we managed not to be the first

Acting Minister of Finance, Hekuran Murati, has accused opposition parties, but also the media, after reports that WorldAtlas, using International Monetary Fund data, ranked Kosovo as the second poorest country in Europe.

Murati says that "when the opposition bloc parties were in power, Kosovo was last on the list according to IMF data."

"What do the IMF data say about economic growth in Kosovo? When the opposition bloc parties were in power, Kosovo was last on the list according to IMF data. This fact is not being mentioned at all today by the opposition and their media," he wrote in a Facebook post.

Now, according to Murati, the current government has managed to make Kosovo "the country with the fastest economic growth than all other countries."

"Has the faster pace of growth been enough for us to come out ahead of many other countries in just one mandate? Of course not, because we inherited an economy crushed by the mismanagement of the old parties, an economy that was at the bottom of the list. But by growing faster than others, we have managed to narrow the gap with other countries, and to no longer be the last country on the table," he wrote.

Murati said that "it is up to the citizens to decide whether they want a government that continues the good work and continues Kosovo's rise in the world rankings, or if they want the return to power of those who enriched themselves while the state remained at the bottom of every list."

"In fact, citizens had already shown their will by voting on December 28, but the opposition bloc decided not to accept the result and send the country once again to elections that cost the economy hundreds of millions of euros in losses," he wrote.
