Former prosecutor Lejla Kadriu has raised serious allegations regarding the construction of modular hospitals, stating that their real cost was around 300 thousand euros, while a full 30 million euros of World Bank funds were spent.
Speaking on a Macedonian-language show, Kadriu said that during the investigation into the causes of the fire at the Modular Hospital in Tetovo, the method of construction of these facilities and the source of their financing were also analyzed, TS reports.
According to her, financial resources were provided by the World Bank in the amount of 90 million euros, of which 60 million euros were intended for medicines, while 30 million euros for the construction of modular hospitals.
"It's about 30 million euros for 10 modular hospitals built from recyclable materials. When we asked about the price of fire-resistant panels, it was found that stone wool panels, which do not burn for 40 minutes, cost about 17 euros, while recycled panels with pressed foam cost 5-6 euros. All these modular hospitals could have realistically cost about 300 thousand euros, but 30 million euros were spent," Kadriu declared. /TS/
