Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Aragchi, the BBC reported, Gazeta Express reports.
In the text translated by Chinese state media, Aragchi is said to have told Yi: "Iran is committed to a comprehensive ceasefire, not just a temporary one."
He also explained that "Hormuz is open to everyone and ships can pass safely, but countries that are currently at war are not being taken into consideration."
The transcript of the conversation, provided by state media, says Yi stressed: "Talking is always better than fighting" and called on all parties to "seize every opportunity and window of opportunity for peace and start the peace process as soon as possible."
