A new program in the canton of Geneva is encouraging residents to give up their cars for a month and try more sustainable modes of transportation.
The Déclic Mobilité initiative, run by the Modus Foundation, offers volunteers a CHF 500 voucher to test alternatives such as public transport tickets, bike rental or car-sharing services.
Participants agree to leave their cars at home during the trial period, albinfo.ch reports.
Organizers say the goal is to change travel habits, while also collecting anonymous mobility data for research.
After a pilot program last year with 72 families in the city of Geneva, the program has now been expanded throughout the canton, including rural areas.
