This is what emerges from the results published by the Federal Statistical Office.
Inflation in Switzerland remains low. In January 2026, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) fell only slightly, falling by 0.1%. This is according to the results published by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO). The 0.1% drop compared to the previous month is attributable to various factors, the FSO explains, including lower prices for electricity, additional accommodation and air travel.
Clothing and shoes also became more affordable – thanks in part to seasonal sales, albinfo.ch reports.
However, hotel costs and international package tours increased, as did auto insurance premiums.
January inflation is at the lower end of analysts' expectations.
Experts surveyed by financial agency AWP before publication had expected an index between -0.1% and +0.4%.
