The Basic Prosecution Office in Peja has filed an indictment against the defendant MN, due to well-founded suspicion that he has committed the criminal offense of "Smuggling of Migrants", according to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.
According to the indictment, the defendant MN, on March 18, 2026, at around 15:00 PM, in the village of Drelaj, Rugova, with the aim of obtaining material benefit for himself, attempted to smuggle migrants towards the border with Montenegro.
"The same person initially met with several foreign citizens of Sudanese nationality at the Bus Station in Peja, where, at their request, they had reached an agreement to transport them to the vicinity of the border with Montenegro, in which case it was agreed that this service would be financially compensated once they reached the designated destination."
However, the Prosecution stated that during the execution of this activity, the defendant's vehicle was observed by the Border Police at the aforementioned location.
During the search, the foreign nationals were identified and the defendant was arrested, while the vehicle suspected of being used to commit the criminal offense was seized.
With these actions, there is a well-founded suspicion that the defendant has fulfilled the elements of the criminal offense of "Smuggling of Migrants".
The prosecutor in the case, upon filing the indictment, proposed to the competent court to find the defendant guilty and sentence him according to the law for the criminal offense he is charged with.
