With the escalation of the conflict in Iran and its spread across the Middle East, fears that the world could be embroiled in a World War III are growing.

Leader Keir Starmer has tried to keep the UK out of the conflict, but recent attacks on an RAF base in Cyprus show that this may not be possible if the war escalates.

Although the likelihood of a direct attack on British soil remains low, experts warn that Iran's Shahed drone fleet could strike suddenly.

Now, scientists have revealed what should be included in an emergency kit in the event of a global crisis.

The official British government website, prepare.campaign.gov.uk, features a "home emergency plan" with a list of basic supplies: bottled water, wet wipes, and non-perishable food.

But according to experts, this list leaves out some essential items for survival.

In the event of a national lockdown, a gas generator can provide independent power, while a mask can filter out harmful fumes.

Professor Robert Handfield of North Carolina State University suggests including a gas-powered generator and an N95 mask. The generator uses a gas-burning engine, so a supply of natural gas or propane must be provided. “Electricity is a basic need,” he said.

Also, a chainsaw can be useful for clearing trees that might fall on your house, not for self-defense.

The government's list does not include toilet paper, although wet wipes can serve as a temporary substitute. For families with children, the kit should include diapers and formula milk.

Experts warn that the safest place to hide during an airstrike is underground. Iran's Shahed drones carry 90kg of explosives, enough to destroy a building with a direct hit.

For Londoners, the deepest London Underground stations like Hampstead Heath offer the best protection. If you don't have access to an underground shelter, it's recommended to stay indoors and prepare for the explosion.

This guide reinforces the importance of a complete "emergency kit," including backup power, personal protection, and basic supplies to increase your chances of survival during global crises. /GazetaExpress/
