The candidate for president of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo and the nominee for prime minister, Ardian Gjini, has highly praised the political journey of the party and the figure of its leader, Ramush Haradinaj, at the AAK General Assembly, EO reports.
Gjini said that he is proud to be part of this party and that the responsibility he is taking on is great.
"It is an honor to be one of you, it is an honor to be part of this extraordinary party, of such extraordinary people. Thank you very much to each and every one of you. I am excited, like each and every one of you. Even though when we come out to speak at such moments our hands shake, I still have to start somehow," he said.
He also spoke about the concept of altruism in politics, linking it to sacrifice and service to the country.
"Is politics altruism? That is, people who give everything for the country, for the nation, for the people around them, but do not ask for anything in return. The wise world has long decided that this is not quite the case. Those who say they are altruistic are often the opposite. But freedom fighters are the true example of altruism, those who have given everything without knowing what they get in return," said Gjini.
Gjini emphasized that the sacrifice of the past is often not appreciated enough.
"We are at a moment when the true altruism of people who have given everything for their country is being denied, while the public is being deceived with false altruism. Completely false," he said.
He also focused on the post-war period and the role of AAK, saying that trust in the party's continuity is being sought after Haradinaj's leadership.
"We are asking for your trust in Ramush Haradinaj. He has not only been a party leader, he is a symbol of Kosovo, a symbol of freedom and the wise politics that have taken place in Kosovo for more than 30 years," Gjini emphasized.
Gjini assessed that Haradinaj's figure will remain marked in the country's history.
"I am absolutely convinced that the history of Kosovo and Ramush Haradinaj will be written in golden letters," he said.
Finally, he said that throughout his political engagement he had a special relationship of trust with Haradinaj.
"There is only one person whom I have 100% confidence in calling commander, president, and prime minister, and that is you. For 26 years of service, I would not trade a single minute of this job. Thank you, president," Gjini added.
