Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has welcomed the possibility of a clash with Jose Mourinho in La Liga next season, amid reports that the Portuguese could return to Real Madrid.
Mourinho is being touted as a candidate to take over at Real Madrid, a move that would bring back the fiery rivalry in "El Clasico", similar to that of the early 2010s.
Asked about a possible duel with the former Chelsea and Manchester United coach, Flick sounded calm and determined. "Why not? He is the coach of the opposing team and I am always ready to face anyone," the German declared.
His comments came after Barcelona's 3-1 defeat to Valencia at the Mestalla in the final match of the La Liga season. However, Flick stressed that the result did not detract from the Catalans' successful season, which had previously secured the league title.
The coach admitted that the team made minor mistakes, but added that some players' attention may have also been on the next World Cup, a big goal for every footballer.
