Around 3.6 million ballots for the two types of Local Elections, for Mayors and Municipal Assemblies, arrived from Slovenia in Kosovo on Thursday afternoon.
This news was confirmed to Gazeta Express by CEC Spokesperson, Valmir Elezi, on Friday morning.
"I can confirm that the ballots for the Local Elections have been brought to Kosovo. During the next week they will be distributed, initially to Municipal Counting Centers, while on election day they will be distributed to Voting Centers," Elezi told Express.
Further, Elezi explained that the total number of ballots printed for the entire October 12 election process is 3,600,820 ballots.
"Based on the decision of the Central Election Commission, for the first round of elections for Mayors and Municipal Assemblies, a total of 3,600,820 ballots were printed, of which 1,800,410 for each type of election. This number includes ballots for all voting methods: at regular polling stations, conditional voting, for persons with special needs, postal voting and reservations," explained Elezi.
This total also includes 44,310 ballots for voting by mail outside Kosovo, which were printed in mid-September, before the start of the voting period for registered voters in the diaspora.
According to the Voter List data, 2,025,105 citizens will vote at polling stations within the territory of the Republic of Kosovo, while 43,993 voters have registered to vote by mail from abroad.
The election process will take place in 948 Voting Centers with a total of 2,625 polling stations, of which 910 Voting Centers with 2,571 polling stations are designated for regular voting, with 2,571 polling stations, while 38 Voting Centers with a total of 54 polling stations are for conditional voting.
