The Emergency Management Agency has reacted after the earthquake in Kosovo.
The announcement states that up to now, there are no official reports of serious damage or injured people.
It is further stated that the responsible institutions are on full alert and are continuously monitoring the situation.

NOTICE TO CITIZENS – EARTHQUAKES
Dear citizens,
Based on data from the Seismological Network, the Geological Survey of Kosovo and the Euro-Mediterranean Seismic Center, as well as the numerical analysis of the seismic event, we inform you that:
On 10.02.2026, at 22:05 local time, the territory of Kosovo, namely the southeastern area (Prizren–Shtërpcë), was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8 on the Richter scale, respectively with an intensity of VI on the Mercalli scale.
• Hypocentral depth: 5 km.
• Epicenter: 23 km east of Prizren.
• Geographic coordinates: 42.144; 20.985.
The earthquake was felt significantly by citizens in different parts of Kosovo. Due to its strength, this seismicity had the potential to endanger citizens and cause minor material damage. At the same time, this event confirms that the Prizren area is an active seismogenic zone, as shown in the Seismic Hazard Map for Kosovo.
As of now, there are no official reports of serious damage or injuries. The responsible institutions are on full alert and are continuously monitoring the situation.
Instructions for citizens:
• Stay calm and only get information from official sources.
• In case of further shaking, stay away from windows and objects that could fall and cause injury.
• Indoors, take shelter under a sturdy table or near a concrete retaining wall.
• After the shaking ends, calmly exit to open spaces.
• Do not use elevators and avoid unnecessary use of vehicles.
• Carefully check homes for any damage and help people in need.
