Fitbit device users face a significant deadline this month, as Google is finalizing the full migration of accounts to its system.
Since acquiring Fitbit in 2021, Google has gradually integrated the platform's services into its ecosystem. While previously users would log in through a separate Fitbit account, now the services are accessed only through a Google account.
The company has allowed the use of legacy accounts for a transitional period, but that flexibility is ending. The deadline for data transfer is May 19, 2026. After that date, users who haven't linked their Fitbit account to a Google account will lose access, as well as all historical data.
This includes important information such as step counts, heart rate, and physical activity recorded over the years. For this reason, users are advised to take action as soon as possible to avoid losing this data.
The migration process is relatively simple and is accomplished through the Fitbit app, following a few basic steps to link the existing account to a Google profile.
Although users will have the option to download or delete their data until July 15, 2026, May 18 remains the deadline for full account transfer.
