Following the visit to Washington on March 21, 2026, the EU envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue, Peter Sorensen, and after meeting with the senior official of the US State Department, Brendan Hanrahan, he announced that the EU and the US are in line regarding the way forward in the negotiation process.

The US State Department spoke to the Express Newspaper about this meeting in Washington DC.
A State Department spokesperson, in response to questions regarding the Dialogue and Association Agreements, said that the regulation of relations between Kosovo and Serbia is essential for peace and stability in the region.
This spokesperson said that the Brussels Dialogue platform is the established path for the two countries to normalize relations between themselves.
"The normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia is essential for achieving lasting peace and stability. The EU dialogue is an established channel for Pristina and Belgrade to make progress on normalization," a State Department spokesperson told Express.
As for the recent agreement on the Aliens Act, this spokesperson stated that the US welcomes the agreement and the fact that the parties have mutually agreed.
"The United States welcomes the announcement of the agreement reached on the implementation of the Aliens Act. We commend the engagement of the parties in this matter to reach a mutually acceptable solution," the spokesperson added.
As for the discussions at the meeting with EU envoy Peter Sorensen, the State Department has declined to comment.
After meeting with Hanrahan, Sorensen announced that they had discussed the Dialogue, the latest agreements reached, and said that the EU and the US are in line regarding the way forward. /GazetaExpress/
