A scam targeting Gmail account holders has caused a stir on social media.
Microsoft Solutions consultant Sam Mitrovic could have been a victim, as he explained in a post detailing what happened to him.
He received a notification asking him to approve a Gmail account recovery attempt that he did not initiate.
A week later, around the same time of day, Mitrovic once again received a notification asking him to approve a Gmail account recovery attempt, which he again refused to approve.
And once again, after 40 minutes he received a call, foreign media writes, reports Telegraph.
This time, he found himself talking to an American, even though the call originated in Australia.
The man on the other end of the call had told him that there is suspicious activity on his account.
During the phone conversation, Mitrovic Googled the phone number from which the call came, and it appeared as a legitimate number for Google in Australia.
