The Democratic Union for Integration has reacted to the statement of the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Hristijan Mickoski, about the war of the National Liberation Army, which, according to this political entity, is a direct insult to Albanians and to the just history of democracy in the country.
In a press release, DUI assesses that the National Liberation Army's war was just, sacred and decisive for the democratization of the state, for the return of peace, for the equal treatment of all communities and for the achievement of the Ohrid Peace Agreement, an agreement that the prime minister himself is attacking today, both with his political platform and with his daily governance practices.
"The KLA was an organized army, with a uniform and clear symbols, that respected international conventions and contributed to the establishment of peace in the country. This is the fundamental difference from those whom the Prime Minister today calls "heroes", while yesterday they were convicted of war crimes, individuals who insidiously and cowardly killed innocents," the statement says.
Further, this political subject emphasizes that Prime Minister Mickoski can only publicly humiliate his political vassals on this topic, but not Albanians and not the historical truth. No political manipulation can erase the role of the KLA in protecting freedom, in bringing equality, democratizing the country and in guaranteeing the peace we enjoy today.
Furthermore, the DUI underlines that it will not allow history to be distorted by those who want to use it for temporary electoral gains. "The KLA is not a topic of the past, but a foundation of equality and peace that must be defended every day," the statement says.
