The situation with the supply and prices of petroleum products in the country has highlighted, according to the Democratic Union for Integration, the government's failure to manage a crisis that had been warned about for weeks. This was stated by Albane Mustafa from the DUI-Cair Branch at a press conference, emphasizing that citizens are facing uncertainty and a sudden increase in prices.

According to her, as of midnight last night, the price of fuel has increased by 15 denars per liter, an increase that, as she said, constitutes a new blow to households and businesses at a time when living standards are already under pressure.

Mustafa emphasized that developments in international markets and geopolitical tensions affecting energy prices did not come unexpectedly and that institutions had sufficient time to take preventive measures.

"This is not an isolated case, but part of a series of failures in the way the government faces every crisis, with a lot of propaganda and little concrete action to protect citizens," she declared.

In this context, DUI proposed a series of urgent measures that, according to them, should be undertaken through the Parliament and competent institutions.

It called on the Energy Regulatory Commission to reconsider the decision to increase fuel prices, starting today. Also, referring to statements that the state has oil reserves for about 62 days, DUI demands that these reserves be immediately released to the market at a maximum price of 71 denars per liter, emphasizing that they were purchased at even lower prices.

At the same time, Mustafa requested that the government consider the possibility of reducing the fiscal burden on petroleum products, including excise duties and other duties, in order to stabilize prices and protect the standard of living of citizens. Another request is related to the actions of the inspection services, which, according to DUI, should verify the amount of fuel that supply points had before the price increase and impose a price freeze on these quantities, since they were imported at lower prices.

Also, DUI demands that measures and sanctions be taken in accordance with the law for operators who have not supplied citizens with fuel during the weekend and Monday.

"We cannot allow some to benefit at the expense of our citizens and producers," Mustafa stressed.

DUI emphasizes that in such a situation, immediate reaction and serious crisis management are required, adding that the party remains ready to support any decision aimed at stabilizing the market and protecting the interests of citizens and the country's economy.
