The Food and Veterinary Agency requires that the slaughter of sacrificial animals be carried out only in licensed slaughterhouses.
The announcement by this agency states that on the occasion of the Eid al-Adha holiday, which this year falls on 27.5.2026, the slaughter of Qurbani is only allowed in slaughterhouses approved by the Food and Veterinary Agency.

"In order to preserve public health, respect the law. We ask everyone, without exception, to slaughter Qurbani only in facilities designated for slaughter and which have state approval. Slaughtering outside these facilities constitutes a violation of the law and may endanger general public health. The movement of animals without accompanying documents, buying and selling or slaughtering in public places will not be tolerated, state mechanisms will act.
Slaughterhouses are not only under the supervision of state authorities. The facilities have refrigerators, technical sanitary and hygienic conditions. There are slaughterhouses for slaughtering animals throughout the country, which have sufficient capacities to meet the needs of citizens. There, each animal is subject to control before slaughter, during the slaughter process and after slaughter by an official veterinarian.
