Since the early hours of Tuesday (April 14), Operation "Daku" has been underway, with 28 precautionary measures executed by the Italian State Police in various provinces, where the majority of those detained are Albanians.

The operation, coordinated by the Antimafia and the Trento Operatives, also involved personnel from the Investigative Section of the Central Operations Service in Trieste. The raid focused on a drug trafficking conspiracy in the province of Bolzano.

The organization was dedicated to the activity of trafficking and distributing narcotics, while the operation is still active and new details are expected to emerge.

The operation was named "Daku" because of the Albanian nickname or pseudonym that many of the Albanian suspects called each other.

The precautionary measures against the twenty-eight suspects, mainly Albanians, are being executed by investigators of the Bolzano Flying Squad, together with colleagues from Belluno, Trento, Venice, Verona and Vicenza, and by the SISCO units of Brescia, Trento, Trieste and Venice, joined in the South Tyrolean capital by the Central Operations Service, as well as the Crime Prevention Units of Milan and the dog units of Ancona, Milan and Padua.

Ten of the suspects have been imprisoned, eight are under house arrest and ten of them have been ordered to stay in their homes, Italian media reports.

The provinces of Barletta-Andria-Trani, Brescia, Monza Brianza, Pordenone and Sondrio are also affected in these latest cases.
