The legal battle between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt is getting increasingly fierce.
Recent court documents reveal that the Oscar-winning actress has been going through a difficult financial period following her divorce from Pitt, admitting that she even had to borrow money from her ex-husband.
Traumatic divorce and painful memories in Miraval
Jolie has confessed that her divorce from Pitt was "emotionally difficult" for both her and their six children - Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne.
She revealed that after the split, she handed Pitt control of their family homes in Los Angeles and the famous Château Miraval estate in France – the place where the couple got married and where they spent some of their happiest moments as a family.
"I hoped this would comfort him after a difficult and traumatic period," Jolie wrote in court documents.
However, she added that neither she nor her children have ever returned to Miraval, as the property brings back incredibly painful memories.
No income, no home – and a loan from Brad Pitt
The actress confessed that after the divorce, she had to immediately look for a new home for herself and her children, starting with renting before finding a more permanent solution.
At the time, Jolie says she had refused to work for about two years to focus on caring for her children and their mental health. As a result, she admitted she was so financially strapped that she couldn't afford to buy a house. That's when, she says, Pitt agreed to lend her money — but with interest.
"I was worried about our children, so I refused to work for several years. But this put me in a very difficult financial situation," she explained.
The fight for Miraval and accusations of selling shares
The biggest issue between them remains ownership of Miraval. Pitt has sued his ex-wife, claiming she sold her shares of the wine company without his approval.
On the other hand, Jolie insists that she did not need his permission for this transaction and that she had the legal right to make the sale.
She also claims that her savings were tied to Miraval and that she had not asked Pitt for alimony or financial assistance, which she says forced her to find money from their joint assets.
From a symbol of love to a bone of contention
Miraval, once the symbol of their love, has become a source of endless conflict.
"Miraval was one of our biggest investments as a couple. We got married there, I spent part of my pregnancy there, and I brought our twins from the hospital to that home. It was hard to part with these memories so suddenly, especially for the children," Jolie said.
How much does Jolie want from Pitt?
