Sela also appealed to the US and EU embassies to raise the alarm and see what is being done regarding Corridor 8. He also said that it is meaningless that while hundreds of kilometers are being built in the eastern part of the country, the Skopje-Blace highway, which is only 15 kilometers long, continues to be a topic of discussion whether to build it or not, while the Tetovo-Prizren highway has no concrete investment..
The government is trying to stop the works on Corridor 8, warns the chairman of the Albanian Transport and Infrastructure Association (ASH) Ziadin Sela. He stressed that the news that the company "Bechtel & Enka" has been forced to lay off around 50 workers in the past few days, because the government is not fulfilling its financial obligations to this company, is not a coincidence, writes the newspaper KOHA.
"Reliable sources say that the Government, through this financial conditionality, is trying to divert and stop the works related to Corridor 8 and in this way, to exclude the entire Polog region from these infrastructure projects, to exclude the connection of Tetovo, Gostivar, Kicevo and Struga", emphasized Sela. He emphasized that in this way, this Government is trying to push investments in terms of the interests of the Serbian world and Russian influence. "The Government is trying to stop the works that have started on Corridor 8 and to continue the works towards the construction of the Ohrid-Manastir, Manastir-Prilep segment in order to directly connect again with Corridor 10d. When we talk about this corridor, we clearly see the tendencies to bypass and leave Corridor 8 unbuilt and with this, in a way, to open the way even more to the Serbian world and through this direct access of Russia to the Western Balkans", emphasized Sela.
He also appealed to the US and EU embassies to raise the alarm and see what is being done regarding Corridor 8. Sela also said that it is meaningless that while hundreds of kilometers are being built in the eastern part of the country, the Skopje-Blace highway, which is only 15 kilometers long, continues to be a topic of discussion whether to build it or not, while the Tetovo-Prizren highway has no concrete investment.
"They are there to protect the interests of those who voted for them and they must do their best not to allow this dark plan, not for the good of Macedonia oriented towards the West, but that this plan is a plan that aligns Macedonia with alliances that would not be good for North Macedonia", emphasized Sela. He also denied the dilemmas whether he is in talks to join the Government, while as for MP Ilir Demiri, he did not want to comment on his decision to join VALEN, saying that he has distanced himself from MP Demiri's actions.
"We have distanced ourselves from his question about what the next political steps are. But in another moral aspect, he has received a mandate as a member of parliament for the Albanian People's Party and he must hand over that mandate," Sela stressed.
Meanwhile, MPs from Ziadin Sela's ASH are alarmed that a scandal has occurred in Parliament, as the majority MPs have not allowed the Finance and Budget Committee to debate two draft laws of this opposition party. MP Elmi Aztiri stressed that this constitutes a serious violation of democracy and dissent.
"The majority MPs eliminated the main function of Parliament, which is debate, the majority MPs demonstrated a lack of democratic capacity to deal with dissenting opinions, the majority MPs denied the right of the opposition MPs to propose laws for the benefit of the citizens. What is the message? The message is that in this country and in this Parliament we do not need the opposition, the opposition MPs can only offer if they are obedient to the government, the opposition MPs will only be able to propose laws if those laws are in line with the goals and objectives of the majority. This is not democracy," Aziri stressed.
The Speaker of Parliament, Afrim Gashi, meanwhile said that the procedure of the plenary session and the committee was fully respected, while emphasizing that MP Aziri has the right to react for the general culture of democracy. Meanwhile, the MP of the Albanian People's Party, Ilire Dauti, reacted to the Speaker of Parliament through a procedural note, reminding him that based on the Rules of Procedure, the Speaker of Parliament has the right to place on the agenda of the plenary session a draft law, which has not passed the Committee.
"Actually, I ask you to refer to Article 85, point two, which states that Parliament may, by exception, discuss issues on which the parent working body and the Legal-Legislative Committee have not taken a position within the deadlines provided for in Articles 156, 147, of this regulation. So, you, Speaker of Parliament, had the opportunity today, by referring to this article, to open the debate, otherwise you are creating a dangerous precedent today for any of the deputies, from any majority, to block parliamentary procedures", emphasized MP Dauti. She said that this behavior of the government and the parliamentary majority speaks of excessive arrogance.
"You have a crisis of arrogance. We are not against opening the debate, we accept a different opinion, we can also accept a different vote, because we cannot force you to act differently, but to behave in this way, in an arrogant manner, this is unacceptable. You are trying to appropriate power, not to lead it, power does not allow owners", emphasized MP Ilire Dauti.
The Speaker of the Parliament, Gashi, told MP Dauti that she was rushing with her statements, while emphasizing that the procedure was fully respected. "Article 2 that you cited provides an opportunity, but it is not imperative and I will provide this opportunity, but I am acting based on the practice that we have established in this Parliament. The Commission must be given time to decide and the moment it is not decided in the Commission, I will use this right of the Regulation, point 2 of article 85 and we will consider this item on the agenda in the plenary session even if it does not pass in the Commission. So don't worry", emphasized Gashi.
