Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky attended the G7 summit in Evian, France, and had the opportunity to have a brief conversation with his American counterpart, Donald Trump.

It is the first time in months that the two leaders have met in person. After their explosive meeting at the White House in February 2025, their subsequent meetings have been more subdued, whether at the White House or at the Vatican during Pope Francis' funeral.
In a social media post, Zelensky expressed his satisfaction with the constructive discussion between the G7 and Ukrainian leaders, thanking his counterparts for their time this morning and "for the strong proposals on how to force Russia to make peace."
“The priorities are clear, more air defense missiles along with licenses to produce them, a winter support package, and increased pressure on Russia. It is important that the United States is ready to provide support in all of these areas of action. It is vital that everything that has been discussed is implemented.
