A technology company claims to have invented a device that translates human speech into "dog language."

California-based business Traini is selling what it calls "the world's first real-time human-dog conversation collar."

Videos published on the company's website show the device in action.

In one video, a man asks an app on his phone: “Give me the remote control?” The translator turns this request into an AI bark, and the dog visibly responds.

Another video shows the animal licking its owner's face after the app translated the command: "Give me a kiss."

Traini's website describes the tool as "the world's first AI for pet behavior, which responds with accent and is designed to adapt to animal welfare."

However, celebrity dog trainer Sharon Bolt is skeptical that the app can develop into something that allows people to have full conversations with their beloved pets.

She told The Sun:

"When a dog barks, different emotions are expressed through high-pitched or deep barks.

High-pitched barks indicate anxiety or fear, while deeper ones indicate confidence. You might find that an app can recognize these different emotions.

But I don't see the logic in being able to talk to it. You can train the dog to pick up the remote. There are a few words it can understand, like 'dinner' or 'walk'. But general conversation? No.” /GazetaExpress/
