PSG's passing master has been linked with a move to Los Blancos as the club look to replace Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.
For a period, Real Madrid dominated European football, with Toni Kroos and Luka Modric as the two cornerstones in Los Blancos' engine.
The dynamic duo split last summer, when Kroos retired from football, while Modric left for AC Milan earlier this year, his departure bringing to an end a trophy-laden 13-year spell in Spain.
Both Modric and Kroos won everything possible during their time together in the Spanish capital, including three consecutive Champions League winners' medals between 2016 and 2018.
However, even though they have players like Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde at their disposal, no one has the same aura and dominance as this legendary midfielder.
Real Madrid have been active in the transfer market this summer, signing Dean Huijsen, Alvaro Carreras, Facundo Mastantuono and Trent Alexander-Arnold, but Modric's departure leaves a void in midfield.
PSG's passing master has been linked with Los Blancos
The La Liga giants, who will be looking to reclaim the title from rivals Barcelona in Xabi Alonso's first season in charge at the Bernabeu, appear to be short of options in midfield, which is worrying.
This has linked Los Blancos with a move for Vitinha, PSG's possession machine, after a dominant season with the Parisian side.
As PSG easily won the league and European titles, Vitinha was the heart of the team, forming a brilliant midfield partnership with compatriot Joao Neves and Spaniard Fabian Ruiz in Luis Enrique's preferred 4-3-3 formation.
The 25-year-old was crucial to their success at home and away, and his performances did not go unnoticed.
Real Madrid have been linked with an interest in the Portuguese midfielder, who would cost a fortune to leave Paris.
A report by One Football in May suggested that it would take a bid in excess of €120m to convince PSG to sell Vitinha, who recently signed a new contract until 2029.
It has now been suggested that Real Madrid should not rush into expensive signings and instead focus on an academy product whose playing style resembles Vitinha.
