The World Bank has removed Kosovo from the List of Countries in Fragile and Conflict Situations. The Central Bank of Kosovo has reacted to this, saying that this is an important decision and a significant moment for Kosovo, reflecting the country's continued progress in strengthening institutional sustainability, macroeconomic stability, financial governance and the rule of law.
"In particular, this issue was addressed with emphasis during the IMF and World Bank Spring Meetings of April 2025 in Washington DC, where the need for a more accurate reflection of the institutional maturity of the Republic of Kosovo was argued in detail," the CBK's response states.
Further, the CBK said that some of the main benefits expected for Kosovo after removal from the List of Countries in Fragile and Conflict Situations are improved international perception of the country's institutional and economic stability, increased investor confidence and reduced financial risk assessments, more favorable opportunities for development financing and access to private capital and complements, according to the CBK, Kosovo's first sovereign credit rating.
"This achievement further strengthens Kosovo's international credibility and reinforces the joint efforts of the institutions to realize our long-term vision for sustainable development, financial inclusion and European integration."
"The CBK expresses its gratitude to the World Bank management, while remaining committed to further advancing reforms, deepening transparency, and strengthening international partnerships that contribute to macro-financial stability and Kosovo's global reputation," the response states.
