The Kosovo Olympic Committee has reacted after their opening of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, an opening that the committee has described as ''spectacular''. The KOK post notes that skiers Kiana Kryeziu and Drin Kokaj carried the Kosovo flag.

The post also notes that for the first time, the ceremony was held in four different locations. The main one was at the San Siro stadium in Italy, while the other locations were Cortina D'Ampezzo, Livigno and Predazzo.

"Kosovo competes in four alpine skiing disciplines and the first competition is Kiana's, which takes place on February 12 in the giant slalom," it is said, among other things, in the reaction, according to Gazeta Express.

Through a spectacular ceremony, the 24th Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games have officially opened, which will take place from today until February 22 in 16 different sports.

For the first time, the ceremony was held in four different locations. The main one was at the San Siro stadium in Italy, while the other locations were Cortina D'Ampezzo, Livigno and Predazzo.

Among the 92 countries, the Kosovo Olympic team also made the parade, with flag bearers Kiana Kryeziu and Drin Kokaj, both alpine skiers.

Kryeziu, along with the head of the mission, Jeton Rudari, and coach Visar Kryeziu, paraded in Cortina D'Ampezzo, while the rest of our team with the flag bearer Drin Kokaj also consisted of the selector Agim Pupovci and coach Ismajl Kokaj.

Present at San Siro were the leaders of the KOK, President Ismet Krasniqi, Secretary General Besim Aliti and Vice President Milaim Kelmendi, also President of the KSF, as well as the Acting Director of the Agency for Sports at the MCYS, Fida Shatri.

IOC President Kirsty Coventry, who was experiencing the Games from this position for the first time, also addressed the audience. "Welcome to the Olympic Winter Games. This is your moment," she told the audience.
