Actor Will Smith recently revealed an interesting detail from his career in an interview that he had kept secret until now. Specifically, the actor admitted that he turned down the lead role in director Christopher Nolan's "Inception" because the project wasn't clear enough for him at the time.
"I've never said it publicly before, but I think we can open up to each other now," Smith told Kiss Xtra. Although he had never spoken about it before, he now admitted that it was one of the decisions he still regrets today.
"Nolan originally offered me the film 'Inception,' but I didn't understand it. Now that I think about it, these films about alternate realities are not easy to explain. But it hurts me too," Smith said honestly. The role that Smith turned down was eventually accepted by Leonardo DiCaprio, was a huge success, and became one of Nolan's most famous works.
It's also interesting that, before DiCaprio, the lead role was also offered to Brad Pitt. This isn't the first time Will Smith has missed out on big opportunities. Over the years, he has also turned down roles in The Matrix and Django, which also became huge hits.
