Journalist Urim Saliu has reacted through a public status regarding the statements of the President of the Constitutional Court, Darko Kostadinovski, which in recent days have provoked numerous reactions in the Albanian public.

Saliu writes that, after attending an iftar a few days ago, Kostadinovski, according to him, instead of reflecting and softening his rhetoric in this holy month, did the opposite, causing a wave of reactions among Albanians.

According to the journalist, this situation risks following the usual pattern of strong but short-lived reactions on the political scene, which are forgotten after a few days and political life continues as if nothing had happened.

In his reaction, Saliu emphasizes that such statements highlight a widespread feeling among Albanians that they often feel ignored in decision-making processes and that issues related to equality and their rights are often overlooked.

He adds that at a time when the democratic world is talking about equality and respect between communities, according to him, old nationalist mindsets continue to appear in the country, which are also reflected in institutions.

"Reactions in this country are often strong, but brief. Meanwhile, officials continue their duties as if nothing had happened," writes Saliu.

The journalist and editor-in-chief of TetovaSot also raises the question of whether this issue should remain only at the level of reactions on social networks and political statements, or whether institutional responsibility should be sought.

According to him, in a democratic state, no one should be above public accountability, especially a senior justice official, who should be a symbol of impartiality and respect for all citizens.

At the end of his reaction, Saliu asks the question whether the reactions will remain only temporary anger, or whether concrete responsibility will be sought, up to and including resignation.
