Albin Kurti announced "efforts" to meet with Bedri Hamza, after meeting with Lumir Abdixhiku to discuss the President's issue. The Prime Minister and LVV leader expressed optimism about a political agreement with the LDK leader, while he made remarks about the PDK's approach, which is waiting for an official letter "concretizing Kurti's new initiative." Then, that letter, as they have warned, "will be reviewed in the party bodies."

Prime Minister Albin Kurti returned to discussions about the President. This time, he first invited the leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, to a meeting.

They did not reach an agreement, although Kurti said after the meeting that he is optimistic that they will achieve this, but asked for "not 80-81, but 84-85" votes in the Assembly, in order to be "comfortable" that the election of the new head of state would not fail. Abdixhiku, meanwhile, said that the three main positions cannot belong to a single party, referring to Kurti's Vetëvendosje Movement.

Kurti said he will "try" to meet and discuss this issue with the leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Bedri Hamza.

"I will also try to meet with the leader of the PDK, Bedri Hamza, because the President will not be, not only from one party, but not from two parties. The President is an expression of the unity of the people," he said, but first listed some remarks about the approach of the PDK, which, before the matter was referred to the Constitutional Court for consideration, had requested that the proposal for President come from them.

"The PDK has never put any name before us. It has only asked that we trust them absolutely and blindly. So, absolutely that the two candidates be from the PDK and blind that they do not tell us in advance. As a democratic subject that we are, with the statute of the Vetëvendosje Movement, with me as its chairman, this makes an agreement impossible, therefore I hope that in the following communications and meetings with the PDK chairman this will change, because there can be no political agreement for the next President, as long as you never tell anyone, any name," Kurti said.

PDK said that chairman Bedri Hamza "has responded to Mr. Kurti regarding the invitation to the meeting."

"He has been asked to concretize his new initiative through an official letter, in order to increase the seriousness in dealing with this issue. After this concretization on his part, the issue will be reviewed in the party bodies and then the final position of the PDK will be presented," a PDK response states.

PDK said it would handle any further developments regarding this issue in accordance with internal party procedures.

The Constitutional Court ruled on March 25 that the President must be elected within 34 days, declaring a decree by President Vjosa Osmani to dissolve the Parliament without legal effect.

Speaker of Parliament Albulena Haxhiu became acting President on Saturday - a position she can hold for a maximum of 6 months - while Vjosa Osmani completed her five-year term as President.

The possibility of Osmani being re-elected president appears to have been definitively rejected on March 5, when Kurti's party, the Vetëvendosje Movement, announced that they had proposed Glauk Konjufca, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, as head of state.
