Dua Lipa opted out of this year's MTV VMAs 2024. The singer recently shared a snap of herself on vacation last week.
It would have marked her first red carpet appearance since May's Met Gala and her first major industry event since attending Jacquemus' fashion show in June.
Lipa's absence makes sense given the categories in which she was nominated. The Radical Optimism artist received just one nomination for Best Pop Artist, a competitive category with Camila Cabello, Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift and Tate McRae also nominated. Her other two nominations are in production-related categories: Best Cinematography (Illusion) and Best Choreography (Houdini) which she won.
Lipa posted summer highlights on her Instagram on August 31. She spoke to ELLE earlier this year about her reputation as a "Vacanza Queen" and how it doesn't reflect the reality of her life and career.
"I've been busy for almost 10 years," she said. "Every day I had some work to do. But people will say something anyway. People say a lot of bad things about a lot of people."
