A survey conducted in the United Kingdom shows that people reach the peak of health and happiness in their late 40s. During this period, many individuals feel fitter, more confident, and more satisfied with life than in previous decades.
Experts explain that this is related to a change in the way of thinking: over the years, the focus shifts from external appearance to internal well-being. “Health is not just about what you see, but about how you feel and how your body functions,” emphasize the specialists.
The survey, which surveyed 2,000 people, found that almost half of respondents over the age of 40 believe that life is getting healthier as people gain a better understanding of their bodies. Many are more mindful of their diet and well-being, while a significant proportion are leaving behind the hectic lifestyles of their youth, cutting back on partying and drinking.
Another important change is emotional: about a third of respondents say they care less about pleasing others and more about themselves. This leads to a greater sense of calm and self-acceptance.
For many people, their 40s are seen as a time of liberation and greater awareness. They feel more secure in their identity, set clearer boundaries, and no longer worry about small things that previously caused them stress.
However, while happiness seems to increase at this age, another study shows that perceptions of aging are also changing. Many people think that "old age" begins around age 69, later than previously believed.
