Carlos Corberán, the new coach of Valencia, has expressed to the club's sporting directors his desire to bring Jamie Vardy closer for next season.

The Spaniard, familiar with the legendary British striker from his experience in English football, believes that despite his advanced age, Vardy can be a valuable asset, especially as a dangerous substitute who changes the course of matches, writes "Gazeta Express".

At almost 39 years old, Vardy's goal-scoring instinct and desire to compete at the highest levels have not waned.

After 13 glorious seasons with Leicester, where he scored over 200 goals, he is now a free agent and the centre of attention from several well-known clubs.

According to "Givemesports", Valencia faces strong competition for his services.

Rangers from Scotland, Wrexham – the club owned by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, as well as Genoa in Italy are some of the teams interested.

Wrexham in particular, who have big ambitions to rise to the top levels of English football, are willing to make high-profile approaches like Vardy.

Rangers are also keeping an eye on him, although the style of play in Scotland may not fully suit the veteran striker's characteristics.

The question that arises is whether Valencia will be able to withstand the financial offers that Vardy could receive from other leagues.

However, Corberán sees him as a safe bet, stressing that his experience and instinct for goal could be decisive in a season that will probably be the last of his career./Express newspaper/
